We assess the dogs in foster homes and are very honest about their behaviour, temperament and needs. Please read more on our Adoption Page

We are looking for forever homes for our dogs, so please read our dog profiles carefully. Before you contact us, please consult thoroughly with your family: you need to be certain that you can give the dog what it needs both now and for the rest of its life.

Sadly we see spiraling numbers of dogs who suffer terribly because their owners can't afford the lifelong care they need.   Keeping a dog is expensive (especially when they are ill or injured) so please do not apply for one of our dogs unless you are able to pay for it to be kept in the best of health.  We strongly suggest you take out INSURANCE to cover vets bills click HERE

WE DO NOT normally REHOME DOGS WHERE THERE ARE CATS OR CHILDREN UNDER 5 YRS.

DOGS MUST NEVER BE LEFT ALONE WITH CHILDREN.
for information about correctly managing dogs and children here are two good guides from the Kennel Club and Victoria Stilwell

The behaviour of dogs is improved using POSITIVE REWARD BASED TRAINING, FOR VIDEOS SHOWING PRACTICAL EXAMPLES CLICK HERE scroll down to see all 10

Dogs CANNOT be left alone for 8-9 hours.  SO IF YOU WORK FULL TIME we will not rehome a dog to you unless you employ a dog sitter or dog walker, and we recognise there is expense involved with providing this for the dog.  Here is a good example of a professional dog walker that we recommend in the Kirklees area DOGGYNANNY

If you are going on holiday within the next two months and cannot take a dog with you please apply for a dog on your return.  It's not fair to adopt a rescue dog that we have spent so much time and effort to settle and rehabilitate then dump it in kennels.

WE DO NOT SELL DOGS, however we ask for a Charitable donation to be provided on adoption to help towards keeping the rescue running.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT LET DOGS GO OUT "ON TRIAL". You may see the dogs as many times as you like before deciding whether or not to adopt.  Most rescue dogs have been through great stress and taking them home only to return them a short time later because owners change their minds would be cruel and damaging.  Dogs quickly form attachments and must not be returned as if they were mere objects.  So please, think very carefully and don't just take a dog on a whim.  As an adopter you should understand that it can take several weeks for a dog to settle into your home.  You must be prepared to commit to doing whatever is necessary to help your dog become a secure and happy family member. Our returns policy exists purely for those rare circumstances where a new owner is unavoidably unable to keep their new pet.

Prior to visiting our dogs you need to carefully consider a number of issues, please read before applying click HERE

FINALLY - no dog in any rescue anywhere in the UK is a perfect dog.  If you want a PERFECT DOG we have the information you need to obtain one, please click PERFECT DOG

< Boudicea APPEAL FOR FUNDS

TRAGEDY !!! Poor Boudicea had to have a hip operation to relieve the pain of long standing hip damage.

****  FUNDING APPEAL ****

The operation cost £701.94 and there will be further costs for two months of physio and hydrotherapy.

Please help us cover these huge bills to our small Charity.  To donate click HERE

-------------------------------------------------------------

Boudicea is very aptly named after a Warrior Queen !!!  This is  not a dog for the faint hearted. THIS DOG IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.

This is the smallest dog, even smaller than a Chihuahua but has been returned by experienced dog handlers as she has a huge personality and bossy attitude with other small dogs.

We are looking for owners who have a bigger dog, or no other dog if they can be around most of the time to keep her company.

Boudicea is a tiny teacup Yorkshire Terrier about the size of a guinea pig.  She is a little dog with a HUGE personality.  She loves everyone she meets and is very good with big dogs although she can sometimes be bossy with small dogs.

Boudicea is being fostered on a small holding where she runs 4- 5 hours each day around the fields.  She will need a lot of exercise in her new home so just letting her in a big garden is simply not enough.  It would be great if she went to a home with bigger dogs who already get a lot of exercise.  If she gets tired she is so small you can pick her up she weighs next to nothing.

We are looking for a home with

  • lots of attention and love
  • experienced, kind dog owners
  • someone at home most of the time
  • not if both partners work full time
  • no children
  • 4 -5 short walks a day plus time in the garden
  • secure fenced garden
  • long term lifestyle and financial security

where she will be treated like a proper dog and given a really interesting life with lots of love.

NO CHILDREN PLEASE SHE IS SO TINY THEY COULD ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGE HER.

PLEASE DON'T APPLY IF BOTH PARTNERS WORK FULL TIME, LOTS OF TIME, PATIENCE AND EXERCISE NEEDED.

THIS DOG DOESN'T WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE MANY HOURS AT A TIME

Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms.

< Lovely Leslie

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT WITH DOGS, A REALLY AFFECTIONATE INTELLIGENT PUP.  STILL TEETHING SO CHEWS YOUR HAND AND CLOTHES.  TOTALLY ADORABLE.

This dear rough coat Patterdale x Westie pup is only 7 months old, he is totally adorable, dog friendly, very affectionate with people but still teething so likes to put things in his mouth so not suitable for young children (children over 10 years ok).

Lovely Leslie is in very good condition with a shiny coat and bright eyes.  We gave him a bath and he was very good.

Lovely Leslie suffers from Separation Anxiety so can't be left for long hours.

Lovely Leslie has started "clicker training" which reinforces good behaviour with a "click" sound and a treat as a reward.  He is picking up new lessons very quickly and focuses well on training.

He is still in need of a lot of basic training and lots of exercise.  Lovely Leslie enjoys playing ball.  He still chews a lot and he isn't fully house trained.

Please note this dog does moult so is not suitable for allergy sufferers.

We are looking for the following home

< Barney Boxer

Barney is with UK German Shepherd Rescue.

Barney is a very handsome and friendly 4 year old red boxer dog.  He is in fantastic shape and very athletic.

He is great with children and extremely tolerant with young babies and toddlers.  We know this as he has been great with our 11month old little boy.

He is very gentle and has many of the typical boxer traits...loves exercise, intelligent and is extremely motivated by balls (he loves to catch and retrieve).  He is well mannered, affectionate and like many dogs loves to cuddle up to people.

He is sociable with some dogs but can react if other dogs show aggression towards him.  He does not like cats so NO CATS PLEASE

He is house trained and is fine being left at home for a few hours.

He understands basic commands such as sit, lie down, wait, drop.

He is a great family dog who will bring lots of happiness to the home.

We are looking for a home with

  • lots of attention and love
  • experienced, kind dog owners
  • owners experienced in kind, reward based training methods
  • not if both partners work full time
  • children must be over 5 years dog-wise and confident as he can be boisterous

< Kara

Kara is 7 years old, a small pedigree Staffordshire Bull Terrier about 16 inches at the shoulder.  She has a superb temperament with adults and children.  She is not keen on other dogs so needs to go as an only dog.  Staffordshire Bull Terrier experience would be valuable.

Kara is very intelligent, she will sit, lie down, give a paw, roll over to command.  She pulls a bit on the lead but soon settles down on a walk.

Kara loves children, we would rehome her where children are over 10 years old and very sensible and used to dogs as she is a bit too boisterous for young children.

Kara is well behaved in the house, travels well in the car and is a wonderful companion and pet.

We are looking for a home with

  • a countryside home where she walked in quiet places
  • the only pet in the house
  • lots of attention and love
  • sensible, experienced, kind dog owners with experience of Staffordshire Bull Terriers
  • not left for more than 3 hours

< Teddy

EXCEPTIONALLY PATIENT, KIND OWNERS NEEDED

Teddy is a very loving and affectionate dog who has fear issues.  He loves to snuggle up on the sofa next to you to watch TV and sleep with you on the bed at night.

Teddy needs mature experienced owners.

Teddy has been badly treated in the past so is sometimes snappy if he is handled in a bossy and confrontational manner as this makes him scared and he gets into self defence mode.  You cannot tell him off this really upsets him, instead you have to negotiate with him and persuade him to do what you want.

Teddy needs you to be very patient with him.  So if you are always rushing off somewhere and need to rush putting his lead on or moving him between rooms then your speed will scare him and he will freeze and refuse to move.

Teddy is good on the lead and needs walks about 30 minutes each.

Teddy is good with other dogs but needs to be the only dog in the home or he could be rehomed with a kind, steady dog.  Teddy sometimes gets jealous when the owner fusses another dog and he will growl.

Please note if he is handled badly Teddy will snap.

We are looking for a home with

  • a quiet, countryside location he is fostered on a small holding and is no problem at all.
  • lots of attention and love
  • experienced, kind dog owners
  • an ability to train a dog using reward based methods
  • NOT if both partners work full time
  • NO CHILDREN OR FREQUENTLY VISITING CHILDREN
  • an active home where he will get a lot of exercise
  • secure fenced garden with minimum of 4 foot fence
  • long term lifestyle and financial security

<  Pringle and Foxcub!!!

COUNTRYSIDE HOME NEEDED

These dogs need to go together they have fallen in love and are best friends in the foster home and it would be a shame to split them up.

They would suit a small holding or similar place where there is a lot of open countryside where they don't have to go on the lead around town because they are terrified of traffic.

They may be a very small dogs but they have a big personality !!!!

Dear Pringle and Foxcub are both very nervous 8 months old puppies who are so scared he will sometimes snap in self defense if handled badly.  Therefore not good with little children, older teenagers with a lot of dog experience would be better.

They need kind, gentle owners with a lot of patience and dog handling experience

They are almost always 100% house trained, they will have occasional accidents so need someone around most of the time to let them out.  Please do not apply if both partners work as they cannot be left long hours.

Both are very affectionate little pets who are very loving and loyal once they get to know you.

Pringle is good with dogs but is sometimes a bit bossy in play and will nip dogs when he gets boisterous.  Foxcub is good with dogs

< Leggo

This super terrier is about 3 years old, a smashing little man who is friendly with everyone.
Leggo is fostered on a small holding with 9 other dogs and he gets on well with them all.  He doesn't run away when let off lead, you can just carry on with what you are doing around the house and garden and he just entertains himself.

Leggo doesn't chase horses and is not particularly interested in the hens although they are behind a wire fence so he can't reach them.

Leggo pulls a bit on lead so will need to wear a harness however he has good recall off lead.  You can pick him up to put him i the car and he travels well and wants to go out and about with you to have fun times and visit new places.

Leggo is a true companion and pet. Leggo loves children but he does jump up them to lick them so might frighten some children, so experienced dog-wise children only

Leggo is showing signs of anxiety if he thinks you will handle him roughly so great care is needed to be kind and gentle with him as he is a sensitive soul.

We are looking for a home with

  • lots of attention and love
  • experienced, kind dog owners
  • owners experienced in kind, reward based training methods
  • not if both partners work full time
  • children must be over 6 years dog-wise and confident as he can be boisterous

IF YOU ARE GOING ON HOLIDAY PLEASE APPLY FOR A DOG ON YOUR RETURN WE CANNOT KEEP A DOG FOR YOU.

Needs love, patience, another kind dog as a companion.

Shiloh is a lovely puppy, a very kind, gentle Whippet cross Boxer about 10 months old and is a big boisterous dog who needs a strong owner as he is a strong dog.

Shiloh arrived in the rescue with a broken tail so our vet had it docked.

Shiloh is a high energy dog who is very active and will need a lot of exercise.  He is such a happy boy, just loves to run.  He is a strong dog but hardly pulls on the lead he walks very nicely once he has had a good run.  Being a puppy he is still jumping up a lot so needs training.

Shiloh is a really affectionate, kind, family pet

Shiloh is dog friendly, currently fostered with a Labrador pup and lots of Chihuahuas and 2 cats.

Shiloh is CAT FRIENDLY

Shiloh has always lived with another dog so needs to be rehomed with another dog.  He loves going for a walk he will go anywhere with you.  Shiloh trots around happily off lead and hangs around with the group of dogs he is walking with and doesn't run away.  He comes when called and will do anything for a treat.

Shiloh is good with sensible children and will make a super family pet.  He is too boisterous for young children so teenagers only please.

Shiloh is well behaved in the house, sleeps well, eats well, travels well in the car and is a good boy.

We are looking for a home with long term financial and lifestyle stability. HE MUST GO TO A HOME WHERE THERE IS ANOTHER KIND, ACTIVE DOG TO PLAY WITH HIM.

< Lucy

IF YOU ARE GOING ON HOLIDAY PLEASE APPLY FOR A DOG ON YOUR RETURN WE CANNOT KEEP A DOG FOR YOU.

GENTLE, AFFECTIONATE, A KIND SWEET GIRL. Lucy needs someone around most of the time and another gentle, confident, dog friendly dog to live with as she would learn from that dog how to be more confident with other dogs.

EXPERIENCED DOG OWNER NEEDED WITH A QUIET COUNTRY LOCATION

Adorable small young whippet girl between 2-4 years old named Lucy with a lovely kind, gentle nature.  She is very affectionate and really good with children.

Lucy is not good with other dogs because she has been attacked recently and hurt by a dog so is now very anxious around dogs.  She barks at dogs when she is on the lead because she feels constrained and anxious if they come near her.  Owners would have to avoid her meeting dogs.

Lucy is super to walk, however she is dog reactive on the lead which can be a nuisance.  Turning away when you see a dog approach is the best way of her coping, rather than expecting her to confront her fear of dogs.

Lucy has made friends with kind gentle dogs and met a whippet a few times who she adores and runs about with off lead.

The video shows her meeting an old dog, the video is taken in "real time as it happened" so you can see it doesn't take her long to get relaxed with a kind dog.

Lucy needs a country home where it is quiet and peaceful.  She really doesn't like road walking, busy/noisy places, traffic etc - She gets very nervous and spends most of it walking with her tail tight between her legs, so maybe not suitable for rehoming to town/city.

As with most sight hounds she has a VERY strong prey drive so has to be under control on the lead where there is any chance of her meeting cats.  When off lead she will chase rabbits.

She's fabulous with children but better suited to older children, just because she's so fast and strong when playing

She is VERY nervous of most men initially. She's okay once she's got used to them.  She hates the postman, workmen, window cleaner etc   She's fine with women, and with men once she's got to know them.

On the whole she is very affectionate, gentle and well behaved, and in the house she is no problem at all and a delight to live with.

Lucy needs to wear a coat outdoors and indoor at night as she really feels the cold.

Lucy is good off lead in a fenced field, she loves to run and will come back when called once she has had a run.  She enjoys playing ball and running with it in her mouth.

Lucy is house trained, she likes to snuggle up on the sofa so if you are not happy with that please don't apply for her.

NO CATS PLEASE

We are looking for a home with

  • a countryside home in a quiet location not near busy roads
  • lots of attention and love

  • an ability to train a dog using reward based methods

< Alvin - a tiny dog with big attitude !!!

IF YOU ARE GOING ON HOLIDAY PLEASE APPLY FOR A DOG ON YOUR RETURN WE CANNOT KEEP A DOG FOR YOU.

THIS DOG IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN

ALVIN NEEDS A LOT OF EXERCISE.  We need experienced owners who know what they are doing with dogs.

This beautiful baby Pedigree Chihuahua is a tiny dog with a big, bold character !!!! He is just one year old, he is just a baby and so enjoys playing.

Alvin loves small dogs but is nervous around big dogs so he attacks them if they come near him, so he needs to be kept away fro big dogs

NO BIG DOGS PLEASE.

Alvin is currently fostered with 6 small dogs, a mixture of males and females.  He is often bossy with male dogs and guards his toys and bed, however he gets on best with slightly larger female dogs.

Alvin would be best rehomed either with a female dog with a very placid nature, or as an only dog.  Either way he likes a lot of attention.

Alvin is very kind and affectionate, he needs lots of walks, love and attention.  You should see him run through the fields off lead, he can go for miles.

Alvin has a coat that needs regular grooming so the owners must be prepared to spend time doing this to prevent it matting up and being uncomfortable.

Alvin is well behaved in the house, fully house trained, sleeps well at night with no barking or whining.  He doesn't travel well in the car and is car sick on long journeys but he will grow out of this.

NO CHILDREN PLEASE, HE HATES THEM.

We are looking for the following home

< Amelia

This dog is with "Barnsley and District Animal Welfare" click HERE for details of this rescue

Hi my name is Amelia.

I have been picked up as a stray so my background isn’t known but I am a medium to large young cross breed who has some big ears! It’s possible I am Shar Pei cross but who knows with us Heinz 57 dogs.

I am very friendly with everyone and I am also very focused and smart for my young age.  In my last home it would seem that I have been trained as I will sit and swop both paws over and I can also lay down.  I am obedient as well as pretty but still unfortunately for me I still have no home of my own.

I am currently keeping all paws crossed that someone out there may just glance my way and see my pics of me laying down and being a good girl.

I have been ok around other dogs and would love to go for some walks very soon as I have lots of energy to burn.  I am approx 18 months old and need a home with people who love some outside adventures and have the time to show me how to be happy and just how fun life can be when you are a wanted and loved dog.

Can you give me the home I deserve this time?

< Florence

This dog is with Barnsley and District Animal Welfare click HERE for details of this rescue

Hi my name is Florence and I need a home please.

I am only a baby of approximately 8 months old as my teeth are pearly white.

I am super friendly and a little giddy and I seem to be all legs at the moment. All I want is to be with someone and to have a fuss.

When I am fully grown I will be a larger girl and probably Lurcher size.

I am very pretty with some quirky ears that fold over onto my head.  It’s been noted that one seems to fold forward more than the other but hey this makes me even more appealing doesn’t it?

I will be looking for a home with people that love to go walking and can offer me some time, guidance and training.

I am a little excited to see everyone but soon calm down when I am out.

< Chester

This dog is with South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue.  Click HERE for more details about this rescue.

D.O.B: March 2007
Vaccinated: Ongoing
Microchipped: Yes
Neutered: Yes

Can he/she be homed with other dogs: Unsure at the moment
Can he/she be homed with Children: Older children only

Chester is a handsome black and white boy who  was initially a family pet but when a baby arrived he was paased on.

Chester was attacked by a dog as a puppy and is now wary of other dogs and can sometimes snap at them.  He isn't outwardly aggressive to them and just feels uncomfortable if they are in his face.  This may be something that can be worked on.

Chester is used to being left on his own and is quite happy as long as he feels secure and he likes to sleep in a cage/crate.

He has good recall but does pull on the lead so walks with a halti.  He loves to bound about in the fields and have a swim but is always keen to return

< Jimbo

This dog is with South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue.  Click HERE for more details about this rescue.

D.O.B: 8 years
Vaccinated: Ongoing
Microchipped: Yes
Neutered: Yes

Can he/she be homed with other dogs: No
Can he/she be homed with Children: No

Jimbo is a very handsome chocolate working cocker. He is well trained and obeys whistle commands and retrieves dummies. Jimbo has always lived happily in the same family since being a puppy but was not comfortable with the arrival of a toddler. Sadly Jimbo bit the toddler after she grabbed him round his back end.

It was a bad bite and as a result he has had to be re-homed. Prior to this Jimbo has not shown any aggression to anyone and has happily mixed with older children. He has been an absolute star at kennels and was a model student at the vets. He is happy to be handled and we have seen no signs of aggression towards people. Jimbo couldn't live with another dog but is fine with them when out and about and has happily walked with a number of other dogs

< Poppy and Fred together forever !!

This pair are with South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue.  Click HERE for more details about this rescue.

These two must stay together.

D.O.B: 8 & 13 years
Vaccinated: Yes
Microchipped: Not yet
Neutered: Yes

Can he/she be homed with other dogs: Yes
Can he/she be homed with Children: sensible children

These 2 are just ADORABLE and I cant emphasise that enough.

They have had a very unsettling few months with family trauma and are looking for a home together. They are completely devoted to each other.

Fred is a German Shepherd crossed with something ( we arent sure what ) he is a big dog but very gentle and loving. He has a few lumps and bumps but the vet has checked him over and he isn't concerned.

Poppy is also delightful.

Tthey are both very good on the lead. Poppy is great off the lead too. As yet we haven't tried Fred.

They will be a great addition to any family

< Oscar

D.O.B: 4/11/09
Vaccinated: yes
Microchipped: yes
Neutered: yes

Can he/she be homed with other dogs: Maybe a bitch
Can he/she be homed with Children: No

Oscar needs an experienced owner.  He has had an unsettled life so far and has moved around a lot.  His last home lasted 10 months.  We don't know how many homes he has had but it is at least 2.

Oscar has come into rescue as he had started to growl at the little girl in the house and had previously bitten his owner when he was playing roughly with his son.  It seems that Oscar felt that he had to protect the child.  He may be scared in some situations as he also growled when anyone got up in the night to use the toilet.

He does respond well to a firm voice but doesn't like to be man handled.  Oscar has not been any trouble at all and has not shown any aggression at all whilst being with us.

He travels well in the car and walks well on the lead and knows a number of commands. He is also very good at the vets.

We are looking for a stable home for Oscar where he can learn to trust someone and understand that he doesn't need to be in charge. He seems to be a dog that is waiting to please and was a real joy to take out on a walk

< Funtime Frankie

Frankie is with First Step Dog Rescue, Sheffield, we are passing Potential Owners forms to them so please register an interest in this advert.

Frankie is a small one year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.  He is in a foster home, where he is very loved!   He is housetrained and will go and sit at the door when he needs to go outside.

Frankie adores people and he loves to be with his foster family, but he's also content being alone while his foster mum is at work for a few hours in the mornings.

Funtime Frankie loves to play, especially with his squeaky ball, and he never tires of having it thrown for him.   He’s even learnt to return the ball and drop it.  He’s a clever boy, and he learns very fast.  He's learnt to 'sit', 'lie', 'wait' and do 'high five' in exchange for a treat!

Frankie loves his walks and need two decent walks a day (about an hour each). He’s friendly with the dogs he meets out on walks as well as with the 3 greyhounds in his foster home.  He's had play-dates with other dogs and got on really well with them too.

He hasn’t been properly cat tested, so it’s uncertain whether he’d be okay to live with a cat, but from his reaction to cats he sees out on walks we think maybe not so NO CATS PLEASE

Frankie is incredibly cuddly and affectionate, and he loves to have his tummy rubbed!  He’d make someone a lovely, loyal pal.

Frankie is doing really well in his foster home, and his foster mum and dad are very fond of him, but he needs a forever home, where he can continue to blossom.  Potential adopters should remember that Frankie is only a youngster and be prepared to continue with his training.  He does need an owner who will set boundaries in a kind way.

He will need a secure garden and would be best rehomed with children no younger than 12 years due to his boisterous nature.

Frankie also has his own Facebook page 'Hey Frankie', where you can see lots more pictures and videos of the adorable pup in his foster home.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF BOTH PARTNERS IN THE FAMILY WORK FULL TIME.

Neutered, microchipped,  vaccinated treated for fleas and worms.

< Diva

This dog is with Friends of Akitas Rescue

Diva needs calm, quiet owners who are capable of handling a big dog, who can offer a forever home with long term financial and lifestyle security.

Diva is a 3 years old American Akita.  This breed is often overlooked due to bad press but it is a breed that is loyal, docile, intelligent and very affectionate with it's own family.  Akitas are good guard dogs and very  protective over children within their own family.  Akitas do not like being teased and pulled around by children, so sensible dog-wise children are needed who understand how to treat dogs with kindness and respect.  Akitas are strong willed and need experienced, calm owners to treat them fairly.  They are physically strong so need fit, active owners.  Akitas can live to 14-15 years if well cared for and fed good quality diet.

Diva is a friendly and inquisitive dog and she loves to have a fuss.  She is a calm, relaxed girl who shows no signs of toy or food guarding.

NO CATS PLEASE Diva cannot live with cats.

Diva can live with another kind calm male dog.

Diva has not been assessed with children.

We are looking for a forever home with long term stability, financial security, big dog experience, a big enough house and car and well fenced garden.

PLEASE OBTAIN FULL FAMILY COMMITMENT TO DOG OWNERSHIP BEFORE YOU PHONE US

< Ginger Dream Topping !!!

This lovely lady is a rare breed the Brittany.  For more information click HERE

Ginger is a small dog below knee height and weighs only about 15kgs.  She is brilliant with humans but not keen on dogs.

Ginger is an incredibly kind, gentle, affectionate dog who is a loyal and loving companion and pet.  She needs a lot of exercise and doesn't have good recall off lead unless in a fenced field so new owners would need to have sufficient time to devote to exercising her.

Ginger is CAT FRIENDLY

Ginger has been attacked by dogs in her past so she is extremely unhappy around dogs that she feels are a threat.  However she can meet kind gentle dogs without much of a reaction but she would be best as an only dog in the home.

We have included a video beneath the photos to show her meeting three older steady dogs.  She is a lot more reactive to young bouncy dogs that scare her.

Because she barks at dogs when on the lead she is best off in a home with experienced owners who have calm personalities and who are prepared to walk her where she will meet very few dogs. A quiet country home would suit her best.

Travels well in the car, is quiet and good in the house and doesn't chew if left a couple of hours.

She can escape from a garden so secure fencing needed

PLEASE OBTAIN FULL FAMILY COMMITMENT TO DOG OWNERSHIP BEFORE YOU CONTACT US

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF BOTH PARTNERS IN THE FAMILY WORK FULL TIME.

Please do not apply if you work long hours and intend to leave this dog without having enough time to give loads of attention and three walks each day no matter what the weather.

< Sky

Sky is with UK German Shepherd Rescue.

We are appealing for a very special home for our lovely Sky.

Sky is only around 3 yrs old, but has problems with her hips & hocks, which mean she will only be mobile for a few years.  Her Xrays show bone overgrowth and the vet has informed us there is no option for surgery.

So Sky needs a special home, who will exercise her regularly but not over do it.  She would not be able to do hilly walks, or long hikes.  She would benefit greatly from swimming, and the rescue will pay for 2 hydrotherapy sessions per month for her for life.  Her weight needs to be kept low, and she would benefit from supplements such as Yumove, green lipped mussel, and glucosamine & chondroitin.

Sky is a happy girl, who rarely needs pain relief, but will need it more as time goes on.  Worst case scenario in approx 2yrs time , she wont be able to hold her back end up.  Best case scenario she will potter around for a couple of years and hopefully reach 7 or 8 yrs old.   We simply don't know.

Sky has so much love to give.  She adores children.  She is fine with other dogs.  She is housetrained, travels well, and really enjoys the walks she does.  Her recall is good.

NO CATS PLEASE

Please can somebody open their hearts to this lovely girl, and cherish her for the rest of her days? THE SKY IS THE LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF LOVE SHE WILL GIVE YOU.

Currently in foster care nr Oldham, Lancs

PLEASE ensure your car is big enough to travel the dog in comfort and safety without being squashed in causing it to feel cramped and claustrophobic
