We assess the dogs in foster homes and are very honest about their behaviour, temperament and needs. Please read more on our Adoption PageWe are looking for forever homes for our dogs, so please read our dog profiles carefully. Before you contact us, please consult thoroughly with your family: you need to be certain that you can give the dog what it needs both now and for the rest of its life. Sadly we see spiraling numbers of dogs who suffer terribly because their owners can't afford the lifelong care they need. Keeping a dog is expensive (especially when they are ill or injured) so please do not apply for one of our dogs unless you are able to pay for it to be kept in the best of health. We strongly suggest you take out INSURANCE to cover vets bills click HERE. WE DO NOT normally REHOME DOGS WHERE THERE ARE CATS OR CHILDREN UNDER 5 YRS.DOGS MUST NEVER BE LEFT ALONE WITH CHILDREN.

< Oscar WildeThis is a very troubled soul looking for someone very special. Dear Oscar is a 2 years old Lhasa Apso who is fearful and is sometimes snappy so not suitable for children. Often these little breeds become overwhelmed and snap out of self defence if people try to stroke them, until he knows them. This dog is not a cuddly pet, he needs to be treated like a dog, he doesn't want lots of love and cuddles, he just wants to be walked and have fun and a peaceful life where he is not disturbed but people constantly wanting to stroke him. Oscar needs a huge amount of patience in a calm, kind, experienced home. With the foster he is gradually settling down but even after two months of extremely careful handling he will occasionally snap. However he has proved he is capable of improving and we really believe that in the right hands he will become a much kinder and more affectionate dog. In common with most anxious dogs, Oscar doesn't like to be left alone and scratches the door and cries. Although Oscar is nervous around boisterous dogs that overwhelm him, he is being socialised whilst in our care. The foster has two older big dogs who are kind and gentle, a Labrador and a Spaniel, and he has settled with them and enjoys country walks. Exercise makes him happier so even though he is a little dog he still needs 3 good walks per day whatever the weather. Oscar is CAT FRIENDLY We are looking for mature owners with lifestyle and financial security who can offer this little man a forever home. He enjoys the company of other gentle dogs and cats so a home with these animals would suit him, and prevent him suffering from Separation Anxiety. Oscar is an animal who wants a quiet, peaceful life, so no children please. Also he likes going out and about in the car and being part of the gang, going on holiday with you and being around you most of the time. He is a loyal little chap who just needs love which means someone to respect his needs and wishes and not overwhelm him.. Neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped Please do not apply unless you have many years of experience with rescue dogs who have issues PLEASE OBTAIN FULL FAMILY COMMITMENT TO DOG OWNERSHIP BEFORE YOU PHONE US Phone Kathy 07711617148 between 9am and 5.30pm or text any time. < RigsbyRigsby is a stunning one year old Rhodesian Ridgeback cross standing 25 inches at the shoulder. We are looking for a mature family home with big dog experience. This dog is as soft as butter he is a real cuddle bug!!!. He is very loving and affectionate with everyone he meets, slightly shy at first but soon becomes your friend. He snuggles up against your leg for a cuddle and loves being scratched on the chest. This is one of the nicest kindest dogs you could meet and is very playful with a puppy-like attitude to life, he enjoys playing with dogs although he can be too boisterous at times. Rigsby is CAT FRIENDLY and lives with a cat. He loves children he meets in the street although he has never lived with children, we are looking for a family of older teenagers as he is too boisterous for little ones. Rigsby pulls on the lead so wears a harness with short lead to keep him by your side and is perfectly controllable in that - but a strong fit owner will be needed who is a competent dog handler with big dog experience. Rigsby needs to burn off energy for half an hour off lead before he gets any training to ensure he concentrates on what you are saying to him. Rigsby needs to be the only dog in the home so that he can develop a good one to one relationship with his owner of consistent, kind handling. Rigsby will need someone around most of the time, a big house and fully fenced big garden, big car, and financially secure home with a commitment to his future forever. < GaynorGaynor is a 5 to 6 years old fabulous Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross with Labrador cross Collie her from her father's side. She is just less than knee height at the shoulder. She is a very kind dog who is friendly with adults, children and other dogs. Unknown with cats. Gaynor loves her walks, she runs off lead and plays with other dogs and has very good recall. On the lead she walks nicely without pulling. She is happy to walk alongside another friendly dog. Gaynor is ball obsessed and loves to carry the ball around in her mouth like her Labrador father. We think she would train up as a flyball dog and she is very fast. Gaynor is the easiest dog to live with, well behaved in the house she lies in her bed and you don't know you got her. She barks when the doorbell goes but is not aggressive with visitors she just wants to make a fuss. She is house trained, has a good appetite, sleeps well overnight and is happy to be left a couple of hours as long as she had a good walk and the radio left on. Gaynor is not all that happy about travelling in the car as she is not used to it, she makes a big fuss of whining and barking and eventually is travel sick if the journey is long so we recommend travelling on an empty stomach. The vet said she will get used to travel if repeated often short journeys to start with. Gaynor is good to handle. She is good to bath and groom with a brush, she wears a coat when it is cold or raining, she is happy for anyone to touch her anywhere on her body, put the lead on and off etc. For a faithful, loyal, intelligent companion and pet Gaynor is your girl - she will be your best friend, an easy dog, who will give you loads of love. < MarleyMarley is a long-legged, big tricolour Border Collie. This great boy is 10 months old, dog friendly, children friendly (children must be used to dogs and over 5 years old) almost housetrained just has accidents if left alone too long or occasionally overnight. Marley is a extra loving and affectionate boy who needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation - he cannot be left alone more than 3 hours. Marley has lived with dogs all his life so must be rehomed with another kind dog to play with and learn from and to be his companion when the humans go out. He cannot be rehomed as an only dog or he will suffer from Separation Anxiety. Marley pulls on the lead, and has variable recall off lead so needs general training. He learns quickly and likes to please but is still very puppy-like in his attitude and just wants to play rather than concentrate for too long. He enjoys playing with a ball. Marley is unknown living with cats, he has not lived with cats but is cat friendly in the street when he meets them so with patience could learn to live with cats. He travels well in the car and likes to go out and about to new places. The garden needs to be securely fenced to at least 5 foot, preferably 6 foot. < LowkiLowki is a 6 months old pup, born October 2012. He is a cross breed with some collie, some Shepherd, and so is therefore a fit, strong, extremely intelligent boy. He will never grow big according to the vet, he currently stands at 16 inches at the shoulder and is likely to grow another couple of inches making him knee high.
Update from the foster after 3 weeks in our care Lowki is a very playful, energetic young boy. He has settled with the two Labradors he is fostered with fine and enjoys spending time and playing with them. We are working on his house training but he needs guidance in this area. To assist with this, we have been crate training Lowki. Due to the fact that he is still very much a puppy, he tends to want to chew so rather that leave him alone whist we are out, he will spend short periods in his crate. He also knows it as his bed and sleeps in the kitchen inside the crate. We are now at a point where he will willingly go in the crate when directed. He will cry to be let out of the crate in the morning when he needs the toilet. Lowki has previously lived with 3 children between 3-7 but he is chewing clothing and fingers a lot and jumping up so we will not rehome him to children under 12 years. Lowki is trained to a basic level, knowing the commands for sit and bed. Lowki is very affectionate - he loves to be cuddled, and when he has had exercise he likes to snuggle up on the sofa and lay with his head on my lap. Everyone he has met has commented on how affectionate he is. He has so much love to give. He behaves perfectly in the bath which is good as he sometimes likes to roll and gets muddy in the fields. At the moment, Lowki jumps up at people and pulls on the lead. This is typical puppy behaviour but again he needs someone who will be willing to consistently train him out of this. Lowki needs plenty of toys to keep him out of mischief - a typical pup, he likes to chew. Rawhide chews, Kong toys filled with cream cheese and Denta sticks will keep him happy for hours. He is very energetic and will run for hours. He has great recall, so he can be let off lead to explore. This boy needs a lot of exercise to burn off his excess energy. Lowki is slightly underweight, and is fed 4 meals per day
complete and tinned. He will need to be kept on a high quality
complete food to support his growth. Because of the turmoil in Lowki's short life he has shown signs of separation anxiety so must be rehomed with another dog. Lowki may initially cry when you leave the house, however he soon settles down in the crate. Crate training is assisting with Lowki's anxiety, we feel that he feels safe and secure in his little haven. Please note Lowki is not fully house trained so needs someone around to let him out frequently.
Neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped PLEASE OBTAIN FULL FAMILY COMMITMENT TO DOG OWNERSHIP BEFORE YOU PHONE US Phone Kathy 07711617148 between 9am and 5.30pm or text any time. < Doris and DixieThis gorgeous pair must be rehomed together. To research why having two oldies together is a good idea click HERE Most people want a perfect dog. If you are one of those people read no further. If you are special enough to be kind to an old pair who have had it tough then please open your heart with love and read the sad story of this pair. The history and background of Doris and Dixie affects their behaviour so it is worth explaining so you get a better understanding of how they view the world and how they conduct themselves. You just have to have a lot of sympathy for them, it is not their fault how they behave it is the way they have been treated. Doris and Dixie have always lived together and have lead an extremely sheltered life, having never been taken for walks, only let out in the garden. This puts them at an appalling disadvantage. Everything in the world is new and frightening, although their confidence is growing daily. Their seclusion and lack of socialisation as youngsters explains why they bark and things they meet on a walk like people, dogs, traffic, bicycles etc. It also highlights the need to for a home where they will be given patience and love and gradual exposure to things over time. Both are ten years old and have been together all their lives and are so closely bonded. They have little tiffs but nothing serious and they absolutely love one another so we cannot possibly split them. They are being fostered on a small holding and when they arrived they were very nervous but every day they settle better and now confidently explore the fields off lead. They are very loving and affectionate dogs who need a quiet, calm home with gentle kind people who have loads of patience. They love going for walks on the moors they can be let off lead, they love running around and have good recall.and they come back home so happy after a walk no matter what the weather. If walked in the town with people about they just get so stressed so will bark at people, bicycles and dogs and walking them is just not enjoyable. For relaxed, happy dogs they need to walk in quiet countryside with no-one about which they really enjoy. They wear little coats to keep them warm in the rain. These dogs are would be too nervous to live with the noise and chaos of children they need a quiet household. Both dogs are very loving and affectionate and love to be cuddled but as their behaviour outside is fearful they need experienced, calm, patient dog owners. We are looking for a loving forever home with a large secure garden and quiet country walks, no children, and people who really know what they are doing with dogs. They need to be walked where there is no traffic, not many people or dogs, just calm gentle walks three times a day and a nice garden to play in. They DON'T demand a lot of attention and don't ask for a lot out of life and they still have many years left in them and they so deserve a second chance of a forever home. NO CHILDREN It will help if you have a sense of humour as they are funny little dogs that make you laugh and you have to see the funny side of their quirky nature. We need real dog lovers, people who truly understand and have sympathy for dogs. We have spent a lot of money on vet and groomer to get them into the best condition for rehoming. Neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, they have been to the vets for a full dental clean and polish with removal of any rotten teeth, and at the same time they were clipped to tidy them up by a professional dog groomer who also trimmed their nails. They had a bath so are nice and clean. Please do not apply unless you have many years of experience with rescue dogs who have issues PLEASE OBTAIN FULL FAMILY COMMITMENT TO DOG OWNERSHIP BEFORE YOU PHONE US Phone Kathy 07711617148 between 9am and 5.30pm or text any time. < Fudge and WaffleFudge and Waffle have come from the same home where they have been together all their life. However they can be split to go to separate homes as long they can live with another friendly dog. Fudge and Waffle are both knee high female cross breeds between 5-6 years old. Fudge is a Whippet cross Doberman, and Waffle is a Whippet cross Heinz 57 dog. Both need lots of exercise. These dogs are family pets and can live with sensible children 10 years and over who are used to dogs. Fudge is a very placid dog who will let you stroke and cuddle her and touch her anywhere without worrying. She is very affectionate and kind. However she is a good guard dog and will bark when the postman comes. Outdoors she is timid with people she doesn't know. Fudge is very needy, lots of attention and exercise and play, she likes the company of dogs and people and cannot go as an only dog, she needs a companion. Fudge pulls on the lead so needs training, but her recall is perfect so she benefits from a lot of off lead running in the fields. She loves her walks. Waffle is more independent than Fudge and has a sweet nature but although she is very dog friendly she doesn't like dogs harassing her. Waffle is totally obsessed with balls and loves to play fetch. This is a good way to exercise her and give her mental stimulation. Waffle has had a go at flyball, she came second at a fun dog show for the fastest non competitive flyball run of the day. These dogs cannot be left for more than 4 hours. Here are two super family pets, a really great addition to the family, who need experienced dog owners and lots of time devoted to them. Neither dogs are good with cats. Both are well behaved in the house and don't chew and they are house trained. They travel well in the car and like to be out and about with you. < HugoPLEASE READ ADVERT CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING If you are looking for a dog with a huge character who makes you laugh so much you cry then look no further !! This boy is full of mischief, full of fun, just a bundle of joy. He is cheeky, self opinionated, and will try to get away with anything. His bad behaviour will drive you to despair then he will give you a cheeky grin and you forgive him. He will tug at your heart every day, cuddle up to you in bed to keep you warm at night and give you so much love, fulfillment and loyalty your life will never be the same again !!! This is a 5 star, cracking little dog, you won't get one like this again. This 2 years old terrier named Hugo is a very lively, active intelligent terrier who needs to live with another big playful dog as he suffers from anxiety when left alone. HUGO IS A VERY AFFECTIONATE AND LOVING DOG. Unfortunately Hugo has come from a home where he lived from a puppy with another dog who was dog aggressive so this has affected Hugo as he learned aggression from that dog. So he sometimes barks at dogs on a lead and is sometimes anxious when meeting new dogs he doesn't know and may snap at them. Once he knows a dog he is fine with it. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN EASILY BE MANAGED AND TRAINED OUT IF THE OWNER IS AN EXPERIENCED DOG HANDLER IT IS NOT A BIG PROBLEM. The foster also had Alfie P and the two dogs played together lovely. They also lay close together on the rug in front of the fire, as you can see from the photos. This is valuable to help Hugo learn to get on better with other dogs and also playing burns off lots of energy which Hugo needs. Hugo can be a handful so needs a confident, experienced dog handler as he has never had any training. He needs time, patience and loads of exercise. Hugo is a super, kind, affectionate dog who needs a family to give him commitment and a loving forever home. Teenage children would be fine but no younger children as he is not used to them and he is very boisterous. He is housetrained and well mannered in the house, but he still chews so will need a lot of rawhide and toys to play with. Hugo pulls on the lead but is gradually learning to heel, his off lead recall needs improving. Due to his high energy and playful nature we have decided he must be rehomed with another playful kind dog. Hugo loves Alfie P they play together really well Competent, knowledgeable and confident dog handlers needed please. This dog must live in the home not outside in a kennel.
if you can't give this dog what he needs please don't apply. Please do not apply unless you have many years of experience with rescue dogs who have issues Neutered, treated for fleas and worms, vaccinated including against kennel cough, microchipped. < BB BobbyBobby bites strangers due to overwhelming fear. Apart from that this is the most affectionate dog you could possibly meet, he bonds closely with his owners and is very loyal and loving. 2 years old, good on lead, excellent recall off lead, good in the car. Excellent with dogs, unknown with cats. Excellent to bath and groom. Bobby loves going for long country walks with the other dogs he is fostered with and then curls up on the sofa or in his bed by the fire and you honestly don't know you have got him. This little dog doesn't ask for much, just a warm safe place to sleep, nice walks, another dog for company and lots of playtime and exercise. For patient people it is not a big deal owning him, he is such a sweetheart, you just have to see things from his point of view and understand his background and fears. The foster is now very well able to explain what triggers his fear biting, and how to handle him and manage him to keep him happy and prevent him getting scared. If he is not scared and feels secure in his home he is a wonderful pet. He just needs someone nice. NO CHILDREN PLEASE Very special kind, loving, patient owners needed for this little mite, with a lot of common sense and experienced with terriers Neutered, microchipped, vaccinated treated for fleas and worms, visit to the dog groomers Phone Kathy 07711617148 between 9am and 5.30pm or text any time. < CinderellaCinderella is seeking her very own Fairy Godmother and/or Godfather! This super girl is a poodle cross terrier and is full of energy and joie de vivre. She’s 10 years old and only about 14 inches at the shoulder but packs loads of personality into her small frame. She pulls on the lead but it is not a heavy weight in your hand as she is so small. She must wear a harness because when walked on a collar she chokes herself and will damage her neck. Cinders can be let off lead she has good recall. Due to being attacked by a dog in her previous home Cinders is anxious around dogs and needs carefully introducing to them, after which she will walk happily with them. We strongly recommend that Cinders is rehomed with another kind dog because then when she goes for walks and sees other dogs her kind companion will tell her not to worry and she will be fine. She is best off with a calm, patient, confident, experienced dog owner. We are looking for someone who is fit and active as Cinders loves long walks. We need someone around most of the time who can commit to walking her a couple of times per day and letting her out for frequent toilet breaks. Cinders has a very sensitive digestive system and is eating cooked fish and boiled rice and Chappie Original tinned dog food mixed with Wainwrights cereal free hypoallergenic complete biscuit from Pets at Home.. She would suit an early retired couple who just want to spoil a dog. In fact Cinders wants to go to the ball, and she wants to go so bad she is always trying to escape. She needs a securely fenced garden and owners who are good at preventing her slipping out of the door to go off on her own adventure. Do you have the glass slipper to fit her tiny feet and give her your heart and make her part of your life?? Dear little Cinders you shall go to the ball !!!! All we need to find you a forever home.
